Mac alum's celebrate great victory!

The results are in for the 2009 SA Rock’n’Roll ½ marathon. The MacArthur Class of 1970 was well represented (see times below & link for complete results). Bill Hammann’s wife & daughter, Sally & Ashley, beat us all followed by Kay, Dolores & Whitey. Sheila & I thought that we brought up the rear but Ray & Marcie Ince were in hot pursuit. Congratulations to all who participated. I was disappointed that I didn’t reach my goal of 3:20 for the 13.1 mile event. I would have done better but I had a wardrobe malfunction. Not as interesting as Janet Jackson’s but more troubling. The string on my shorts broke so I had to complete the second half of the race holding them up so that they didn’t wind up around my ankles & create a distraction. Kay & Dolores even helped me with safety pins that helped for a while but just weren’t heavy duty enough. Kay suggested that I use the strap from my number bibb to do the job & it did but too late to help me maintain my competitive edge!

Mac Pre-Run Get Together

We took the show on the road and the results are in for the 2009 Las Vegas Rock’n’Roll ½ marathon. The MacArthur Class of 1970 was well represented (see times below). The Class of 69 had a participant again as well with Mr. Lasswell! The Hammann women, Sally & Ashley, again led the pack followed by Whitey & Dolores. I came in next followed close behind by Sheila & Wayne. (Sheila & Wayne actually finished the course ahead of me but I started in a corral behind them). Kay was on the injured reserve list this time after her recent hand surgery. Bill & Kay had assistance in cheering the group this time as Kathy & Shellie came along. I am pleased to report that Dolores & Whitey and Sheila & Wayne renewed their wedding vows on the race course.

Next stop 02/28/10 - New Orleans Rock’n’Roll ½ marathon. Join us if you dare!

It is half marathon time in New Orleans and the the MacPac is at it again. The race is over & we are heading home in a little while. The MacPac has fared well once again. In the under 30 category, Ashley Hammann (daughter of Bill & Sally who wimped out & stayed home) lead the pack. In the “Senior” division, Dolores was first followed by Whitey, then Wayne & Sheila with Kay & Butch bringing up the rear. (For complete results, click on the link below.) A good time was had by all. Next stop, Chicago in August!

p.s. – We had dinner last night in French Quarter at The Pelican Club. As we were finishing up dessert, in walked Greg Popovich & some of the Spurs coaches for dinner! The Spurs play the Hornets tonight. Go Spurs Go!
