Wilshire Elementary

We were the Wilshire Wildcats. So many memories. When I didn't walk or ride my bike to school I would walk 4 blocks to Cathy & Carol Braleys house and ride to school with them. Their Mom had a station wagon and she would put the tailgate down and we sit with our legs hanging down all the way to school. Can you imagine doing that today? We never fell off and it was so much fun. Mrs. Braly was such a neat lady, Cathy & Carol too.

I can also remember being in the second grade with Joe Gross when the teacher said "okay that's it" and pushed Joe's desk with Joe in it down the hall and back into the first grade. That was an eye opener!

I can also remember being in the 4th grade and totally infatuated with Julie Ketcham. She was the prettiest girl I had ever seen. I unfortunately had one of the most embarrasing moments in my life happen that I will not ever forget. I was sitting next to her and I farted. I will never forget the look on her face. I think that was why I repeated the 4th grade, so I would not have to be in a class with her ever again. The shame I carried continued all the way to High School when I would avoid her in the halls, lunchroom etc. making sure I had no eye contact with her. I never spoke with her again after the fourth grade accident. Funny how little incident's like this can have such an impact. Julie, if your out there all I can say is what I should have said then:

"IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE "

John- I cn't believe you had a crush on her too- they moved into Northwood, which of course,  was the best elementary school- where McCracken and I went- she was in my 5th or 6th grade class- I had a terrible crush on her, although I can honestly say I didn't cut one sitting next to her- but, then again, you always were the man- regards, Ted Wood

Hi Ted,

Obviously you have good taste in women but poor taste in elementary schools.

Good to hear from you,

John

Hey you two wild and crazy guys! ,

I found a fabulous 3rd Grade Class pic, Wilshire Elementary, 1960-'61

Mrs. Owen's class

I think that's Carol Braley, and Paula Lindakugel (lovely Brownie uniform!),

Steve Hart, Tommy Stoffel, Malcolm Heizer, Gordon, Gary, Margaret, Susan...

The first names, I am startin to recall.  Woe is me, having a  brain cramp!  Are you

guys up for a bit of  "Name Those Kids" ?

I uploaded the class pic, on my profile, just for kicks, couldn't resist!
Be of good cheer and  have a blast at the reunion!  Wish I could be there.

Hi Kati,

Here is my input on the Wilshire third grade class photo game of "who is that"?These may or may not be who I think they are as I have slept since then.

4th row, back corner- Alan Conklin, his dad owned the barber shop in the shopping center at the corner of Wurzbach & Rittamin Rd.

4th row, 2nd desk- Malcomb Heiser ( I think)

3rd. row, 2nd desk- Gary Biggs

3rd row, far left, last desk- Ken Fisher

2nd row, 4th desk- Carol Braly

1st row, 1st desk- Paula Lindekugal (she lived directly behind me at one time)

Maybe if we get enough people to view the picture we will have all the names. Most look familar but I can't remember their names. Maybe we can make this a class project.

Happy New Year To All
