Principal of Coker, Mr. Whisenant

Mr. Whisenant was principal at Coker from late fifties, perhaps? One winter it was very icey and he stepped up to each car and held hands to each child to help them into the building. I'll never forget this. I was one. And so nervous to have the principal do this. To me, he was big and burly, but so nice. In the hallway, he would instruct us to go "single file, single file."  He had the scent of tobacco, pencil filings and a cologne (Old Spice?). It was wonderful to me.
