Hello all you Mac class of '70 track men. This is Dave Williams. I am thrilled to announce the opening of our very own thread. Woopee! I want to get the ball rolling by discussing our premo Pole Vaulter-Norm Thomas. As I'm sure you all remember, Norm would frequently fiddle fart around until the track meet was almost over before he would do anything, thus assuring that he had an audience. I might be wrong but I sort of remember him giving us the points we needed to win the district meet our junior year. Well anyway, Norm has achieved some fame pursuing another athletic endeavor. He has been paddling some sort of craft in The Texas Water Safari for the past 13 years. That race is a 265 mile sufferfest that begins in San Marcos and ends in a little town on the coast called SeaDrift. Norm has been doing this thing for so long he is considered a sort of God father. The race starts the second weekend in June. You can follow his exploits at( texaswatersafari.org )

He got me started doing stuff like that during a disscussion at one of our past reunions. I did the TWS twice and that was plenty. I root for Norm every year.
