Memorial services for Linda H. Townsend, 56, of Tyler will be held on Friday, April 10, 2009, at 3:30 p.m. at the Stewart Family Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Richard Luna officiating. Mrs. Townsend passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. She was born April 10, 1952, in Tucson, Ariz., to Johnny and Rose Humphrey. She was raised in San Antonio where she graduated high school. She attended UT-Austin and worked in advertising for Whiteco and Fox Television. Mrs. Townsend enjoyed volunteering for the Humane Society of East Texas and Azleway Boys Ranch. She was involved in the Rose City Chili Pod and the McClendon House. Mrs. Townsend was passionate about her kitties and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Humphrey. Mrs. Townsend is survived by her loving family including her husband of 24 years, Kenneth D. Townsend of Tyler; father, Johnny Humphrey of Lake Palestine; and her sister “2,” Sheri Parker of Dallas. Memorials in honor of Linda H. Townsend may be made to Humane Society of East Texas, P.O. Box 6151, Tyler, 75711-6151.

Linda rescued stray cats, stray dogs and (sometimes) stray people. She was equally kind to all of them, even when they were not so kind to her.

I miss her.

Linda was so much fun. I lost track of her after high school. Hope she had a happy life.
